Eco-sustainability

We are very aware of the fact that every day we receive precious gifts from the Earth, and so protection of the soil and the environment are matters very close to our hearts at Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy. We try to manage natural resources carefully, and have set up various projects in both the winery and in the vineyard to keep faith with our commitment. We consider these initiatives essential to improving our products in terms of quality, eco-sustainability and economy.

Photovoltaic panels

The barrique cellar at Martinenga, where we age part of our production, was deliberately built underground to save space and to exploit the resulting natural, ideal hydroscopic and temperature conditions. Numerous photovoltaic panels with an annual capacity of 54 Mkh, enough to satisfy our energy requirements, have been installed on the roofs of the barrique cellar entryway and the car ports, The roof of the barrique cellar is entirely covered by a portion of our aromatic garden.

Aromatic garden / micro-climate

Like a natural wood, a garden of flowers, plants and aromatic herbs also contributes to maintaining the microclimatic balance of a particular zone and creating areas favourable to the survival (it has to be said) of precious insects. For example, the Apis Mielifera (honeybee) that can find an ideal oasis for pollination here and help keep parasites and insects harmful to the vineyard away. Furthermore, this little jewel of a place emanates different scents with each change of season, creating a magical terrace with an exclusive view for tasting our wines, surrounded by our Martinenga Grand Cru.

Experimental vineyard

The study of wine growing is a living science that allows us to discover and understand which are the best conditions to help the vine flourish and give the best fruit. In this portion of Martinenga we have created a vineyard by selecting 11 Nebbiolo clones which are monitored by our team of agronomists and oenologists. We continue to study this series of experimental polyclonal rows to understand the many secrets that the vine can still reveal.
